I get the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) and am often amazed at what I see. Here are just a few of my favorites. If you'd like to get APOD'd, go here: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/

Homer

Meet Homer.  We picked him up at the Humane Society on Friday.  We went there to browse kitties but bumped into him and, well . . . you know the rest.  They think he's two years old, but he was a stray so nobody's really sure.  He was found in El Centro which is about an hour east of San Diego.  The town shares the Mexican border with Mexicali, so he could be an illegal alien pero, smuggled across into the States.  This theory is supportedHomie by the fact that he seems fluent in only Spanish.

The name is courtesy of the pound, where everybody loved him.  We're not sure it'll stick:  he seems utterly indifferent to it and so far responds best to 'Baby.' Still, we may keep Homer, not for it's link to Greek Mythology or to Homer Simpson, but for the apparant sexual preference of the pup.  We think he's gay.

We're not sure, mind you; but he immediately went into a humping frenzy with another male dog yesterday and today was completely indifferent to a lovely female shar-pei.  He actually turned his back on her, clawed at the ground like a bull and trotted in the other direction.  The poor wrinkled girl was crestfallen.

So we may keep  Homer, not as in TugSimpson or the Odyssey, but as in Homer Sexschel.

This child is so well behaved!  He's shown no interest in using the house as his personal porta potty nor in chewing clothing or furniture, and has been willing to stay off sofas and beds.  He's only barked once and that was when I confused him by getting down on all fours and acting like a dog.  He didn't seem to know whether he was supposed to play with me, bite me or fuck me. He's good on a leash and goes into full body wags whenever he meets a human.

The first day he was a little reserved, but slowly he's becoming more playful and bold.  I took him to my favorite Walkdeserted beach yesterday and soon he was chasing the waves with wild elated abandon.  Today we went to dog park in San Diego's big Balboa Park where four leggeds are allowed to cavort off the leash.  It was mid-day and there were no other dogs there, but he and I had a great game of dodge and run.

I feel my disposition improving by the minute!
